PADI IDC and OWSI Programs
The Instructor Development Process has two parts; Assistant Instructor and
Open Water Scuba Instructor. These courses can be done individually or combined
into an Instructor Development Course.
Instructor Development Course £700 7 days plus pre-course study.
This course combines the AI and OWSI course.
Pre-requisites - PADI Divemaster or equivalent, 18 years age, 60 dives
(100 dives before you take the IE) inc night, deep and navigation dives, Valid
diving medical, In date First Aid & CPR qualification, have been a certified diver for
at least 6 months.
Open Water Scuba Instructor £400 (£350 if
you have completed your AI with us.) 4 days plus pre-course study
Pre-requisites - PADI Assistant
Instructor (or Open Water instructor in good standing with
another recognised training agency), 18 years age, 60 dives
(100 dives before you take the IE) inc night, deep and navigation dives, Valid
diving medical, In date First Aid & CPR qualification, have been a certified diver for
at least 6 months.

Dive Industry Overview General Standards and Procedures The Role of Media and Prescriptive Teaching Legal Responsibility and Risk Management PADI Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver Course Adaptive Teaching The PADI Continuing Education Philosophy Business Principles for the Dive Instructor Adventures in Diving Program Specialty Diver Courses and Master Scuba Diver Program Rescue Diver Course Divemaster Course Diver Retention Programs How to Teach the RDP (Instructors from recreational diver
training organizations other than PADI must complete.)
Present at least two evaluated knowledge development teaching
presentations and score a 3.5 or higher on at least one
presentation. Present at least two evaluated confined water teaching presentations
and score a 3.4 or higher on at least one presentation. Present at least one integrated (two skills) evaluated open water
teaching presentations and score a 3.4 or higher on each skill.
- Demonstrate competence at performing all 20
dive skills listed on the Skill Evaluation. Candidates must earn 68
total points, with no individual score below 3.
Perform a facedown, nonstop swim for 800 metres/yards using a
mask,snorkel and fins. Score 75 percent or higher on all five sections of the Instructor Preassessment Exam.
Successful completion of the IDC or
OWSI program prepares and qualifies you to attend the PADI
Instructor Exams. PADI Instructor Examinations are conducted by PADI
Examiners who independently assess all Instructor Candidates.
Successful completion of the IE qualifies you as a PADI Open Water
Scuba Instructor.
